We stumbled Gray Squirrel after having lunch on the area and I’m glad we did. We knew it was our type of place when we saw the mural on the wall. When we walked in we loved the vibe. We ordered the Coconut Salted Caramel Latter with Expresso Foam and OMG! Love at first taste. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable that we will definitely come back for a visit when we are in the area. Oh and we bought doggie biscuits (house made) like all of their pastries. Up next on our visit...their handcrafted sodas. We would definitely recommend.

My first impression was that they have a lot of seating and plenty of space. The baristas and FOH staff were friendly and well-informed about the menu. I got a flat white and my friend got a decaf latte. We both thought the espresso was very high quality and milk was frothed perfectly! I will come back!

I would give this place 6 stars if I could! Their iced latte with oat milk got me through college. Creamy, nutty, smooth, and strong. The best iced latte I’ve ever had. Lost of gluten free normal pastry options, all baked in-house. The scones and cookies have fun flavors and are always changing. Only downside is that not all of the seats have outlets nearby and the stools can get uncomfortable after an hour or so. Free parking, but sometimes the lot is very crowded. The coffee is quite expensive ( recently raised prices bc of tariffs) but it’s so good that I stopped wanting to go anywhere else in carrboro/chapel hill, plus they’re a living wage employer so no tips.

Amazingly delicious coffee. Super friendly. Great place with friends or by yourself to work, think, or just enjoy a cup of coffee.

The latte here deserves 10 stars. The frothed milk gets its own stars. When we are in CH, I go here twice in a day. Coffee is smooth and nutty and without that burned, bitter taste you often find. Nice indoor and outdoor seating area.

Great coffee, service and plenty of indoor and outdoor serving. It was a two coffee kind of morning! I ordered both a macchiato and a nitro brew. Both delicious! Highly recommend!

This was such a great find for a cafe where one could down and work! There was a ton of seating options indoors and outdoors, though I’m not sure if many of the spots have a convenient wall outlet. I was there all morning, and it felt like there was always a nice amount of buzz from other customers, a good ambience for me to focus. Coffee was pretty good, and I also ordered the vegan peanut butter no-bake cookie, but it was quite sweet. Overall, great cafe! Would definitely come back!

Best espresso on the continent. Maybe the world I happened upon this place, for the first time, a few years ago. It has the smoothest, best pulled espresso that I've ever had. And I lived in Europe for 3 years searching for good coffee. I even own a few of their mugs, which isn't my thing. They also have flavored sodas that my kids like. The orange cream soda has a great, light flavor. My wife thinks the lattes are really delicious. It has a sidewalk patio for those glorious Carolina days. There are some tables inside. Oh, and merch. Lots of merch. Expensive merch. I don't usually buy that stuff but couldn't resist it here. Just so I can tell the folks back home that they should go here. Also, I stock up on the coffee. No, I'm not friends with the owner, it's just good coffee. It's a bit pricey, but worth it.
